Vacuum misalignment in high energy collisions.
We study a recent proposal to observe the disoriented chiral condensate in high energy collisions. In order to produce a large fluctuation in pion probability distribution, a large size of the correlated region is essential. We study the role of the intrinsic symmetry breaking and suggest that a negative (mass)2 of mesons arising from a misaligned vacuum may be a candidate for such a mechanism....
متن کاملHigh Energy Nuclear Collisions
Highlights of the results from ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions at CERN-SPS are reviewed. In particular, I discuss how the experimental results indicate that a collective strongly interacting system has been produced, and what are the implications towards the Quark Gluon Plasma. The physical ideas behind measuring certain observables are introduced. The future program of high energy nucle...
متن کاملParticle production in high energy collisions
A short historical review is made of charged particle production at high energy proton synchrotrons and at pp and pp colliders. The review concerns mainly low pt processes, including diffraction processes, and fragmentation of nuclei in nucleus-nucleus collisions. A short recollection is made of the first studies of high pt processes. Conclusions and perspectives follow.
متن کاملCharmonium production in polarized high-energy collisions
We investigate the inclusive production of prompt J/ψ mesons in polarized hadron-hadron, photon-hadron, and photon-photon collisions in the factorization formalism of nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics (NRQCD) providing all contributing partonic cross sections in analytic form. In the case of photoproduction, we also include the resolved-photon contributions. We present numerical results ap...
متن کاملAnisotropy in High Energy Nucleus - Nucleus Collisions
The predictions of event anisotropy parameters from transport model RQMD are compared with the recent experimental measurements for 158A GeV Pb+Pb collisions. Using the same model, we study the time evolution of event anisotropy at 2A GeV and 158A GeV for several colliding systems. For the first time, both momentum and configuration space information are studied using the Fourier analysis of th...
